Family Crest
A humble attempt at explaining the meaning behind the Kimpos’ badge of pride by Phillip Kimpo Jr. (adapted from the original article at his website).
The image on the right sidebar is the Kimpo Family crest or coat-of-arms. The seven persons — four male, three female — represent the sons and daughters of Lolo Juan and Lola Ganday, namely Pastor Sr., Magdalena, Ramon, Rosa, Esperanza, Claro Sr., and Amado Sr. From these seven stemmed forth the present “tribes” of Kimpos.
That oddly-shaped “thing” on the crest’s right half is the province of Aklan, home sweet home. According to legend, the eagle stands for…well, I do not really know. The eagle seems to have been adopted as a symbol of the Clan, and with the eagle being an allegory for many wondrous things, I’d say it is a good choice. Still, legend has it that the crest was in part made by an Atenista, hence the reflection of the alma mater loyalty on the family standard. While I’m not sure as to the veracity of this story, it does make for good family lore!
This is Kimpo.ph, the online portal for all members of the Kimpo Clan.
The years have witnessed the Kimpo families spread all over the Philippines, and as part of the Filipino diaspora, the whole world. May this website help the descendants of Juan Kimpo and Maria Lutgarda Escalona reconnect with their roots and with each other.
On this site, you will find various accounts of the Clan's history, an extensive family tree for the descendants of the seven children of Lolo Juan and Lola Ganday, info and pictures of all the Kimpo international reunions, webpages of various Kimpos, and more.
